The Gates Scholarship 2025 Overview:
The Gates Scholarship will support 300 students each year, starting from 2018, with a total of 3,000 students benefiting over the program’s duration.
Launched in 2017, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aims to help outstanding minority students from low-income backgrounds achieve their full potential through this scholarship. The program is designed to remove financial barriers, allowing talented students to focus on their studies and succeed.
The Gates Scholarship 2025 Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a high school senior.
- Plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US accredited, not-for-profit private or public college or university.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Belong to one of the following ethnic groups: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American.
- Be a US citizen, national, or permanent resident.
Scholarship Duration and Benefits:
The Gates Scholarship will cover all educational costs not already covered by other financial aid and family contributions. This includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, and may also cover personal expenses.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal applicant will have:
- A strong academic record (top 10% of their high school class).
- Proven leadership skills (e.g., through community service, extracurricular activities).
- Excellent personal qualities such as emotional maturity, motivation, and perseverance.
