British Council Scotland Scholarship Overview:
The British Council Scotland Scholarships 2025 is a fully-funded program supported by the British Council and organized by SGSAH.
The main goal of the SGSAH EARTH Scholarships 2025 is to create opportunities for PhD and early-career researchers to work with Scottish universities, mentors, and other organizations on research projects. The focus is on how environmental arts and humanities can connect with different subjects and help address global issues like climate change. The program also promotes interdisciplinary research, combining arts and humanities with science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
This scholarship will provide financial support for 7 to 9 researchers. Additionally, other participants from SGSAH’s funded PhD programs will be part of the project.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships 2025, you must meet the following conditions:
- Open to current PhD students in the Arts & Humanities studying at universities outside the UK.
- Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in the Arts & Humanities who have graduated from a non-UK university can apply.
- PhD students can apply at any stage but must have a letter of support from their supervisor.
- ECRs must apply within one year of receiving their PhD notification, but in special cases, like illness or caregiving, they may apply within two years.
- Applicants must be working on a PhD in the Arts & Humanities or an interdisciplinary PhD, with at least 50% of the research in Arts & Humanities.
- The program is open to PhD and ECR researchers from all countries, especially those from the Global South and areas aligned with the Scottish Government’s International Development Fund, including countries like Rwanda, Zambia, Pakistan, Malawi, and India.
